Update! You may have seen on FB but my Swift finally arrived after sitting on the dock in Seattle for 30 days in the rain. Aeriane did a fantastic job of packing though and my new Swift arrived in perfect condition. I had a team of helpers ready and the truck showed up at 8pm in the rain. We worked well together and with 8 people per side lifted the 300+ kg crate (one of the protecting foam wraps was full of about 20 gallons water!) into my shop. I ordered it without the fuselage as I purchase one from a fellow Swift pilot, Ken Dawe. Ken converted to electric and that conversion came with all new. It took two full days to carefully unpack everything and since then I have been working on putting the final touches on the cockpit. I had to add the steerable nose wheel. It was the "new" style with a nice cover to keep dirt out but that requires some major cutting and trimming of the fiberglass and now a new neoprene boot is in order. Next job was mounting the engine fittings. That turned out to be a quite a chore. The elbow fittings that insert into the rear end of the armrests were a VERY tight fit into the nylon bushing (big mallet type tight!) as a consequence, getting them lined up just right so the engine "A" frame would slide in and out easy took two more days as I finally had to separate the "A" frame from the engine in order to be able to feel where things were binding. What is left to do is install the neoprene, figure out control and fuel routing for the engine, test the engine, recharge the pneumatic rocket for my chute, figure out chute installation and lanyard routing.
The frustrating part is I have not been able to fully assemble my Swift and have not even been able to sit in the cockpit! Reminds me of another chore...make a support for the main spare for rigging. If that was done I might be able to at least sit in her!
Really looking forward to taking to the air and realizing my dream!
