Swift Owners’ Forum Code of Conduct
1. Participate
Don’t be afraid to share your experiences, your ideas, you own modifications. Don’t hesitate to participate in discussions – that’s what this forum is for.
2. Respect others
Personal attacks are strictly prohibited. Its fine to debate and challenge one another’s ideas, but when the discussion turns personal it’s no longer acceptable. What crosses the line will be left to the judgment of our moderators.
3. Off Topic Issues
This forum is strictly intended for Swift owners and pilots and those with a lively interest in the Swift ultralight sailplane. Posting of information on related subjects will be tolerated as long as it is interesting for the Swift community – for instance an update on other ultralight gliders. Posts on any other subjects will be deleted. Frequent posting of off-topic issues can lead to exclusion from the membership.
4. Inappropriate Content
Don’t use foul or sexually suggestive language. Also for politics and glorification of violence there is no place on this forum.
5. ProBoards terms of service:
our forum is hosted by ProBoards. You have accepted their terms of service during registration. Please be aware of the fact that breaches of the Terms of Service can lead to termination of your account by ProBoards and might even have consequences for the Forum.
When in doubt, you can read the Terms of Service here: www.proboards.com/tos
6. Before You Ask
Many Swift pilots are willing to give you a lot of their time to answer your questions. This engagement deserves respect - please take the time to prepare your question before taking it to the group. In many cases, your question has already been asked by another poster and a brief use of the search function will turn up your answer.
If, after doing a thorough search of the forums and browsing the above mentioned threads, you do not find the answer to your question than you are encouraged to ask the group. Try to provide as much information as you can about what you would like to know and what you have learned about the subject up to this point. This will ensure the very best chance of receiving a thorough answer. You will be amazed at just how much knowledge and experience will be brought to bear to solve a well written and thoughtful question!
7. Copyright
Posting, selling, or advocating the piracy of any information not released to the public domain is not allowed.
8. Quoting Outside Sources
When quoting the text of a book, article, or website please only quote a small portion of the text and then provide a link or reference to where the remaining content can be found. Exceptions to this are content from public domain sources such as government publications.
9. Customer Experiences
There are many suppliers we as Swift pilots rely on. Some vendors provide a great product and some don't. This website is a natural place to discuss these matters but, we must do so in a responsible way. The internet is an amazingly powerful means of spreading information about a company - both good information and bad information. An unfounded rumor can seriously impact the business of a hard-working individual and their employees. To this end we ask all members to be cautious about the wording of their posts when describing the actions of a vendor who has wronged you. State the facts, but do so in a rational, coherent, and non-inflammatory way, limited to your own personal experiences. Unfounded rumor, character defamation, and other such posts will not be tolerated.
10. Double Posting
All Boards have a main topic. When starting a new thread, make sure you do so in the proper Board and do not post the same question in more than one Board at a time. This cuts down on confusion and helps participants find the info they need.
11. Vendor Participation
If you are a vendor, we would like you to know that you are welcome to participate here on the Swift Owners’ Forum. You may encounter a situation where a member criticizes or posts negative information about your product, service, company, or staff. As the vendor, you are welcome to address those concerns in a positive and professional way. However, it is not our policy to censor or remove negative feedback based on firsthand experience unless it violates the guidelines of this site. If you feel you are being unfairly treated and don't wish to post to the open forum, please contact us and we will review the situation.
12. Advertising
While we are happy with any information on Swift-relevant products by the supplier, we don’t allow free ads. We realize there is a fine line between the two and we will refine our policy on this in time. However a few guidelines:
We allow you to discuss new products, to supply information on existing products or to answer (potential) customer questions. However we ask you to remain as objective as you can and to refrain from clearly promotional texts. Also the forum is not a platform for price lists, offers etc.
13. Private Correspondence
Private messages and emails should remain private. Never post the contents of a Private message except with the permission of the individual who sent it.
