Hello ,
At the end of this year, it is interesting to make a little view about our forum.
We are very proud to see that the number of members has increased constantly since it was launched. It shows the interest of the pilots in the world for the ultra-light gliders and especially the Swift Light and all its versions.
It was very interesting to see the changes that some pilots are doing to increase the comfort of their Swift or to gain one or two points glide ratio. Some pilots are busy with big changes to the fuselage or are making a complete new fuselage. We are very happy to see that motivation and especially to see that the community wants to exchange these modifications to help the other pilots or show the different possibilities for the Swift.
Other pilots find very interesting documentations to increase the knowledge about the theory of the flying wings or the Swift. We thank all these motivated members. These articles help us to understand how the Swift fly’s, and can also help to balance the Swift to increase its performance.
And we don’t have to forget the pilots that make movies and pictures to show the other members the beautiful flights that they have made or the different regions where they fly.
2017 was also a great year with the organization of the world championship and we can thank Jacques Bott and his team for this unique competition. It also contributes to let people know about the Swift all over the world.
And finally, it seems that some pilots are ready to organize little meetings or flying weeks in 2018 to federate the Swift pilots. Thanks to these initiatives. It will be a super opportunity for the pilots to meet, and fly together and to exchange information.
But it could be better if each member or pilot could participate more and put some articles or pictures on the forum. Even a little contribution can increase the value of this forum and motivate all the other pilots. We need more articles about the flight and the different flying techniques of the swift. These articles can help new pilots learn about the differences of the Swift in the different versions. For example, we have a very detailed article about the flight technics of the Swift Light PAS but nothing about the Swift light and the Swift Light E. And we are sure that there are big differences in the speed, the weight, the flight.
We are convinced that some pilots have enough experience now to write interesting articles. Young pilots come back from the different schools (Belgium or France) and are very interested by these articles to avoid surprises in flight and to know directly the different limits of their glider.
We are proud to see the evolution of the forum. Participate and show or share to the other members of this forum what you are doing about the Swift. It is the only way that the forum lives.
Last point. Try to find all the other Swift pilots who are not members and give us the information or ask them to become a member. The more pilots we are, the more the forum will be better.
The three administrators of the forum wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
